Andy Hale Wins Worldwide Photo Walk On Wight Competition 2012

Andy Hale Wins Isle of Wight Worldwide Photo Walk Competition 2012.

We are pleased to announce the winner for the 2nd Isle of Wight Worldwide Photo Walk in Carisbrooke, on Saturday 13th October 2012.

The winning image (featured right)was taken by Andy Hale of East Cowes.

According to the judge, “this image had the pow factor”

We will be viewing all of the photos during a special evening later this month.

October ‘Mystery’ Photo Walk On Wight

Following the announcement of Photo Walks R Us last year, and our subsequent successful second Isle of Wight Worldwide Photo Walk 2012, we are pleased to announce another Photo Walk will take place on Sunday 28th October 2012 11.30am-2pm.

*Update: We will be meeting outside the Guildhall in Newport.   Insurance/legal purposes dictate,  you must register your interest  by Saturday 27th October.

Worldwide Photo Walk On Wight This Saturday

Isle of Wight Worldwide Photo Walk 2012.

Religion, History and Water will feature in the Mystery Photo Walk this Saturday.

Those people that have already signed up to participate in the Worldwide Photo Walk on Wight, can now focus on their amiable amble which will be taking place around Carisbrooke.

The Worldwide Photo Walk event is free and open to everyone and a great chance to meet other photographers.

In essence this will be a social photography event where photographers get together to walk around, shoot photos, and generally have fun with other photographers. The aim to practice and improve one’s own photography skills, capture some culture as well as having some gentle exercise.”

The photo walk duration of approx 2hrs, is wheelchair friendly and the weather forecast is looking good.  There are still some places left for anyone who would like to participate, but you must register Click here to take part.

“This exciting outdoor pursuit or ‘amiable amble’ is suitable for Mobile Phone, Compact, Bridge and DSLR users, basically anyone with an interest in photography is cordially invited to join other photographic enthusiasts too!”

There are global prizes to be had, and whoever puts the best photo in from our walk will also get a prize. The rules are simple: any image captured during the walk itself can be entered into an online gallery for judging. 

There are still places up for grabs but in order to secure one you will have to sign up the day before the photowalk takes place.

One Day Intensive Course On Adobe Lightroom

Adobe Lightroom Courses on Isle of Wight

There is just one space left on the latest Adobe Lightroom Photographers Workflow Course on Saturday, 22nd September, 9.15am to 4.15pm.

This hands-on application experience is focused on Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4 – 4.x and is a unique opportunity for Photographers on the Isle of Wight.  There are no other courses available specific to Lightroom on the Island, delegates will learn to download, organise, manage, develop, and present digital photography using their own laptops/pc.

This course ensures a smooth transition to digital photography workflow and is led by qualified tutor Gary Early.

“This is a comprehensive one day intensive course to using Lightroom 4 – 4.x as the hub of your digital photography workflow, and you will leave with a far better idea of what you can achieve and how to make Lightroom work best for you.”

It’s official: once again the IWDIG will be putting the Isle of Wight on the photographic map, by hosting another Worldwide Photo Walk in 2012.

Founder of the Isle of Wight Digital Imaging Group (IWDIG) , Professional Photographer and Teacher Gary Early was selected by Worldwide Photo Walk organisers to once again lead the Isle of Wight (Worldwide) Photo Walk.

Blue Moon Tonight – Rare Treat For Sky Gazers

Tonight Isle of Wight star gazers may get to view a Blue Moon. This blue moon, and the second of two full moons within August, is a rare occurrence.

Blue moons exist due to our calendar months being imperfectly synched to the lunar months. It takes 29.5 days for the moon to orbit Earth, during which sky watchers observe all of its phases. The blue moon is expected to reach its full phase at 9:58 a.m.

However, “blue moon” is not in fact blue-colored at all. The first full moon occurred on August 1st, but tonights “blue moon” will be the last blue moon for three years.  Read more from the Island Pulse click here:
